1983

SWWF 1983 SEA Games
SWWF organises the waterskiing event for the South East Asian Games (SEA) Games in Singapore at Jurong Lake. William Teo and Jasmie Hussein win Singapore’s first-ever SEA Games medals in the Men’s Trick (silver) and Men’s Slalom (silver) event respectively. The Singapore Team wins the bronze medal.

1985

Paul Fong wins Singapore’s first international waterski gold medal in the Men’s Trick event at the Asian Waterski Championships held in Perth, Australia.

Paul Fong wins the Men’s Trick Event at the Malaysian Waterski Open in Miri, Sarawak.

1987

SWWF Jasmie 1987

SWWF granted permission to use Kallang River for National Waterskiing Training and to organise local/international waterskiing competitions.

Jasmie Hussein wins a gold in Men’s Slalom and Paul Fong wins a gold in Men’s Overall at the Asian Open Waterski Championships in Singapore at Kallang River.

Jasmie Hussein wins Singapore’s first SEA Games medal in the Men’s Slalom event in Bali, Indonesia. In addition, three silver medals are won by Paul Fong in slalom, tricks and overall.

1991 - 1992

Roger Koa wins the Men’s Overall event at the Asian Open Waterski Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1991.
 
In 1992, Roger Koa wins Singapore first ever gold medal in men’s tricks at the Asian Australasian Championships in Omigawa, Japan edging out top trick skiers from Australia and New Zealand.
 
 

1993

SWWF hosted the 1993 World Waterskiing Championships at Kallang Riverside Park. 40 countries from around the world competed in this event with world’s top waterskiers competing; the event is televised live worldwide. Roger Koa places 24th in Men’s Tricks.

1994

SWWF organises first ever wakeboard competition in Singapore at Kallang Riverside Park.

1996

SWWF organises waterskiing and wakeboarding demonstration at Marina South in conjunction with the Great Singapore Workout, watched by Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong.

SWWF invites World Wakeboard Champion, Dean Lavelle, to perform a demonstration at Kallang Riverside Park.

1997

Roger Koa wins a gold medal in Men’s Slalom at the Asian Open Waterski Championships in China.

Roger Koa wins 3 gold medals in Men’s Slalom, Tricks and Jumps in the SEA Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Suter Tan and May Lwin win two silver medals in the trick events.

2000

May Lwin wins a bronze medal in women’s slalom at the Asian Waterskiing Championships in New Zealand.

SWWF selects Singapore’s first National Wakeboard Team to compete in the 1st International Waterski Federation’s World Wakeboard Championships in Montpellier, France. Samantha Knott wins Singapore a gold medal in Junior Ladies event. Roger Koa places 4th in the Men’s Open event.

2001

Roger Koa represents Singapore in wakeboarding at the World Games in Akita, Japan.

Suter Tan and Kevin Tan represent Singapore at the 2nd IWSF World Wakeboarding Championships in Sun City, South Africa.

2002

Team Singapore, comprising of Kevin Tan, Yunos Bin Yusop and Carmen Liew, win first wakeboarding medals in an international wakeboarding competition, the Asian Championships.

2003

SWWF organised Reef Wakefest 2003 & Riverside Jam, June at Kallang Riverside Park in conjunction with the Play! Singapore Campaign, one of 8 events chosen by the Singapore Sports Council to encourage people to participate in sports after the SARS epidemic.

2004

Sasha Christian, 11 years old, becomes Singapore’s youngest representative at an international competition and places third at the Asian Wakeboard Championships in China.

SWWF organises first wakeboarding demonstration in Marina Bay at the UIM F1 Race.

SWWF organises HSBC Wakeboard World Cup at Bedok Reservoir (first motorised sport in a fresh-water reservoir).

2005

PUB appoints SWWF to organise Sail Past for the Marina Barrage Commencement Ceremony, witnessed by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.

Sasha Christian wins Breakthrough Award from Singapore Sports Council Sasha Christian appears in Singapore’s National Day video, called “40 Today”.

SWWF launches first National Junior Wakeboarding Programme, HSBC Junior Riders.

Singapore Sports Council appoints SWWF to organise Sail Past and Wakeboard Demonstration at Waterfest by the Bay (at Marina Bay).

SWWF organises 2nd HSBC Wakeboard World Cup at Bedok Reservoir.

NEA & PUB appoints SWWF to organise wakeboard demonstration, by Max Christian, for Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during Clean & Green Week at Bedok Reservoir.

2006

The Singapore Sports School admits Sasha Christian’s as its first wakeboarding student.

Singapore’s first Cable Ski Park, Ski360°, opens at East Coast Lagoon.

SWWF organises 3rd HSBC Wakeboard World Cup at Bedok Reservoir.

Sasha Christian wins silver medal at the Asian Wakeboard Championships held in Australia.

Team Singapore (Sasha Christian, Eliza Loo, Vivien Chong, Max Christian, Yunos Yusop and Terry Goh) wins 1st ever gold medal, wakeboard team overall, at the Asian Wakeboard Championships, Australia.

2007

SWWF organises 1st Wakeboard Rail Jam at Ngee City using a mechanical winch and portable pools.

SWWF organises a Wakeboard & Wakeskate Rail Jam at the Marina Bay Floating Platform, in conjunction with Waterfest 2007.

SWWF organises 4th Wakeboard World Cup at Bedok Reservoir.

Sasha Christian wins bronze medal in the Girl’s Division at the Wakeboard World Championships, Qatar.

2008

Sasha Christian wins silver medal at the Asian Wakeboard Championships and Asian Australasian Wakeboard Championships, Korea

Max & Sasha Christian perform wakeboard demonstration during the National Day Parade.

SWWF organises Wakeboard & Wakeskate Rail Jam at the Marina Bay Floating Platform, in conjunction with Waterfest 2008.

SWWF organises 5th Wakeboard World Cup at Marina Bay and 1st Dance Party on the Marina Bay Floating Platform (called the Float presented by the Butter Factory).

2009

Sasha Christian wins IWWF Asian Wakeboard Championships in Chuncheon, Korea.

2010

SWWF organises its first cable wakeboard and wakeskate event at Ski360°, East Coast Lagoon Cable Park, the 2010 Mettle Games.

2011

Sasha Christian wins a gold medal in women’s wakeboard and a silver medal in women’s slalom at the South East Asian Games in Palembang, Indonesia. Kalya Kee wins silver in women’s wakeboarding and Matthew Christian wins a bronze in men’s wakeboarding.

2012

Sasha Christian wins a bronze medal in women’s wakeboarding at the Asian Beach Games in Haiyang City, China.

2014

Sasha Christian wins a gold medal in women’s slalom in the Asian Beach Games held in Phuket, Thailand.

2015

SWWF organised the wakeboard & waterski disciplines of the South East Asian Games in 2015 at Bedok Reservoir. Sasha Christian wins gold medals in women’s slalom and women’s wakeboard. Mark Leong wins a gold medal in men’s slalom. Kalya Kee wins a bronze medal in women’s overall. Team Singapore wins a silver medal in wakeboard team overall.

2016

Mark Leong wins a gold medal in men’s slalom at the 2016 IWWF Asian Championships held in Korea.

Angie Christian wins a gold medal in Masters women’s slalom at the 2016 IWWF Asian Championships held in Korea.

2017

SWWF organises Singapore’s first wakesurf competition, the Manulife/Flash Wakesurf Championships.

South East Asian Games in Malaysia, Sasha Christian wins gold medals in women’s slalom and women’s wakeboard. Mark Leong wins a gold medal in men’s slalom and bronze in overall. Sabelle Kee wins a silver in women’s trick and Team Singapore wins a silver in wakeboard team overall.

2017

SWWF Marcus Lee Wakefest Singapore 2017
Marcus Lee wins a gold medal for wakesurf in the 2017 Singapore Wakefest.
Singapore’s first representatives in an international wakesurf competition are Cassandra Tan and Quentin Oliver Meech, both qualifying for the finals at the 2019 SINGHA IWWF Asian Championships in Thailand.
Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate medal disciplines are included in the South East Asian Games for the first time, held in the Philippines. Nur Alysha Mohamad Rizwan wins a bronze medal for Singapore in Women’s Wakeskate.

2018

SWWF Marcus Lee HKG Wakefest 2018
Marcus Lee wins a gold medal for wakeboard in 2018 Nautique Wakefest Hong Kong.

2022

Singaporean wakesurfers, Alfian Affandi and Franci He clinch bronze medals in IWWF Asia Wakesurf Championships in Chuncheon, South Korea, for open men skim and masters women skim respectively.

2023

In the inaugural IWWF Asia Wakefest Minahasa 2023, Quentin Oliver Meech wins 1st place in the open men surf. Alfian Affandi wins 3rd place in the open men skim. Merelda Lee wins 3rd place in the open women surf. Wong Wai Ping wins 3rd place in the open women skim.
