Sports Excellence Talented Elite Athletes Management (spexTEAM)

1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 The spexTEAM programme recognises the commitment athletes make to long-term training and competition programmes. Athletes are carded based on achievements in SWWF organised competitions.

1.2

spexTEAM carding brings with it access to a range of athlete support schemes such as free medical treatment, insurance coverage and the Sports Excellence Training Assistance Grant (spexTAG).


2 DETAILS OF THE PROGRAMME

2.1
The SWWF will recommend athletes to the Singapore Sports Council (SSC).

2.1.1 Athletes who place as follows in SWWF organised competitions (Wakefest, Singapore Open & Singapore Nationals) will be recommended to the SSC:

Women
• top 3 placing in any division for youths (21 years and under)
• top 3 placing in Open Division

Men
• top 3 placing in any division for youths (21 years and under)
• top 3 placing in Advance, Outlaw or Open Division.

2.2.1

Applicants must be Singapore citizens. However, those with Permanent Residence status may also be recommended by the SWWF.

2.2.2 Current spexTEAM athletes should have a good track record of sporting achievements from 1 April 2005 to 31 March 2006 (must have a top 3 placing in a SWWF organised events) to be considered by SSC for the period 1 April 2006 to 31 March 2007.

2.3

2.3.1 The final decision of an athlete’s carding will be determined by the Singapore Sports Council.

2.3.2 The carding criteria for athletes are as follows:

A1 Athletes who have attained a Gold medal at the SEA Games and/or its equivalent and deemed to have the potential to progress to the Asian level and beyond

A2 Athletes who have attained at least a Bronze medal at the SEA Games and/or its equivalent

B1 National training squad athletes, and talented elite junior athletes who have attained at least a Gold medal at national youth and/or age-group championships

B2 Talented elite junior athletes who have attained at least a Bronze medal at national youth and/or age-group championships



Sports Excellence Training Assistance Grant (spexTAG)

1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 The spexTAG is a training grant to help athletes defray training costs.

2 DETAILS OF THE SCHEME

2.1

2.1.1 All spexTEAM carded individuals and teams will automatically receive grants for the year consistent with their carding status.

2.2

2.2.1 All spexTEAM carded athletes receiving spexTAG must abide by the terms and conditions set out in the Athlete’s Agreement

3 QUANTUM OF GRANTS

3.1 The total amount of grants per year for individual athletes are as follows:
Individual A1 : $ 7,200
Individual A2 : $ 4,200
Individual B1 : $ 1,200
Individual B2 : $ 600
